Tracy Thomas Gough
Tracy Thomas Gough established the Gough Group in 1929, alongside his brother Edgar and Harry Hamer. During the late 1930s Edgar Gough and Harry Hamer left the company, leaving Tracy to grow the firm into the wide-ranging engineering and related services group employing around 1000 employees in New Zealand and Australia. The Gough Group became a diverse entity spanning several international premium brands across a wide range of sectors in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. After travelling to the US, Tracy secured the Caterpillar franchise, which enabled the launch of Gough, Gough and Hamer, to become one of Australasia’s leading infrastructure development companies.
In 2019 the Gough family sold the Gough Group to a Malaysian company after nearly a century in New Zealand owning the Caterpillar heavy machinery dealership.
