Last night at the blessing of the Spirit of Gold Portrait Collection, Auckland Chamber CEO Michael Barnett said he had met the team from Paralympics NZ - they talked about yesterday’s achievers and today’s new team and they talked about artist Amber Stephens, the portraits of the athletes and the New Zealand tour which starts today.

“I thought what a great opportunity for businesses across New Zealand to meet a group of people with an attribute that successful businesses need – that of course is - positive attitude.

“Chambers around New Zealand will host a number of events that will bring together in one room, Paralympians and business leaders."

“I am hoping that these conversations will lead to money and that businesses will contribute to the teams' efforts towrads success in Rio,” said Barnett in his address to attendees at the blessing.

The blessing was performed by representatives from the Maori Strategy and Relations department – Auckland Council (Te Waka Te Angamua).

The Spirit of Gold Portrait Collection will tour New Zealand through the New Zealand Chamber network until June 2016 to increase awareness and help to raise funds to support the New Zealand Paralympic team on the road to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games and to support the growth of Para-Sport in New Zealand.
