Q. How do you use Chamber membership?
SP. I was introduced to the Chamber by a friend a few years ago when I was invited to my first ba5 networking event. I was new to sales and eager to network and meet prospects. I’m happy to say I found them at the Chamber - plus so much more. Unsurprisingly I continue to use the events whenever I can.
As a result of contacts made at the Chamber, I now have mentors I can call on, not to mention unsolicited leads which have resulted in some very nice sales over the years.
One of my most memorable experiences was hosting a hugely successful ba5 evening with over 100 guests. I had an almost embarrassing influx of leads and new business.
But the best bit really? I’ve not only gained long terms clients, I’ve made friends.
Q. Do you have any advice on how businesses can get the most out of their Chamber membership?
SP. In my opinion, to get the most out of your membership you need to have a Chamber champion within your organisation. Someone who rallies up interest from the team in the events, who enjoys networking, has the drive to organise Table-top Expos or host an event, and afterwards follows up and follows through.
I am happy to say that I am a champion for the Chamber - and like anything in life, you get out of membership what you are prepared to put in.
